Meet Mariah. Wow, getting to sit with Mariah Phillips was a treat for us, and we think it will be for you, too. From her childhood full of diverse people to life now filled with diverse people, Mariah teaches everyone how important community is when you allow for people who aren’t just like you.
Meet Yosef. In Episode 5, we travel all the way to Israel! Well, it was a virtual trip, but a trip nonetheless. Meet Yosef Adest, creator of 52Frames photography community, and learn how he has seen community in his life and how he has created a magical place where “Framers” from around the world meet every week to exchange ideas and encourage each other.
Meet Kara. Kara J. Kemp is a community leader and creator! Through her workshops and her storytelling space in the Bloom Stage, Kara continues to create community. Join us as we hear how she saw community in her childhood, how she discovered theatre, and how she continues to evolve.
Meet Abdou. It was so exciting to sit down with Abdou Kattih and learn what it feels like “Coming to America.” Abdou is a local pharmacist and a celebrity to those in the volunteer world. His determination to build community even in places he might not have felt welcome is an inspiration to us, and we hope to you, too.
Meet Christian. Christian is a leader at Climb Murfreesboro and in his life, as he embraces people in his community in so many places. A friend of Molly’s through climbing, Christian opens up about how community has shaped him and he, in turn, is shaping his communities.
Meet Susan. Susan Steen is the other half of Molly and Susan, the mother-in-law so very grateful for the friend she found in her daughter-in-law. Like Molly, Susan has seen community in a lot of different places and faces. Sharing her story isn’t always comfortable, but neither was it for Molly. Since she went first, it’s only fair for Susan to spill her guts, we mean share her journey. We hope these first two episodes give you an idea of why these two creative ladies believe Creating More Community is an important topic for this first season.
Meet Molly. Molly Steen is the star of the first episode, named Episode 0 because…technology. Anyway, in order to talk about creating more community in our world, Molly and Susan need to spend the first couple of episodes catching you up on who they are, how they got here together, and what community looks like to both of them — both earlier in life and today.
